{"id":1846,"date":"2021-11-18T08:55:30","date_gmt":"2021-11-18T13:55:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ameiph.com\/?p=1846"},"modified":"2021-11-18T08:59:26","modified_gmt":"2021-11-18T13:59:26","slug":"asylum-seeking-families-still-without-access-to-subsidized-childcare","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ameiph.com\/en\/asylum-seeking-families-still-without-access-to-subsidized-childcare\/","title":{"rendered":"Asylum-seeking families still without access to subsidized childcare"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\" style=\"text-align: center;\" id=\"asylum-seeking-families-still-without-access-to-subsidized-childcare\"><strong>Asylum-seeking families still without access to subsidized childcare<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">It has been three (3) years since refugee claimant families have had access to subsidized childcare.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Currently, to be eligible for subsidized childcare, one must have at least refugee status, which can take two (2) years or more.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Being excluded from such an important service makes the integration process more difficult for asylum seekers. They cannot necessarily take training, work, learn French, attend interviews, or apply for jobs because they look after their children. Women are often the most penalized in this process.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">The Comit\u00e9 Acc\u00e8s Garderie, along with the firm Melan\u00e7on Marceau Grenier Cohen (MMGC) and the Commission des droits de la personne et des droits de la jeunesse (CDPDJ), is asking the government &#8220;to act now and allow all families residing in Quebec to have access to subsidized childcare services, for the benefit of children, women, families and Quebec society.
